Description
In 1985 she exhibited her “ajoupas” – sculptures of ethnic architecture – in “Art in Action”
– a group show using disposable waste to make home furnishings, as the theme.
Bunty’s explorations in art media have taken her through photography, water colour
painting, pastels and glass. She has attended workshops in the U.K. and France and
travelled extensively looking at the pottery of other cultures. From 1986 to the present,
she has given art classes every year in the art of pottery making. In 1987 she launched
a small pottery business “Ajoupa Pottery'' with Husband Rory. Since 1985 she has
participated in several group exhibitions.
Recent work has been in mosaic in which she has developed her own technique for
cutting her own unique designs. This work resulted in a commission of fifteen
panels which are displayed in the Hilton Hotel Tobago, Plantation Room.
Newest work involves the addition of bagasse (sugar cane waste) to local clay for the
making of larger sculptural works.
