Growing up in bustling Port of Spain, having an adventurous family and one of the “craziest”, fun art
teachers ever, my love of colour and movement was never stymied. My passion for creating visual
art pieces, partially hidden beyond life’s corporate walls, has re-emerged to inspire my paintings and
other creations.Born and raised in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Wendy Perriera-Aqui (neé Perriera – b.
1962) is passionate about all things simple and beautiful, peaceful and fun, nature, emotions and
“old things'' that she celebrates and preserves in her paintings or captures in her photos.
Although her craving for colourizing fabric for fashion using various techniques persists, this “passion
to paint” now takes on a life of its own weaving threads across different media and styles whilst the
artist in her seeks to find her one voice.
