Michael Phillips is a businessman, artist, sports promoter, motivational speaker, and a former National cyclist of Trinidad and Tobago. Born in 1972, Michael grew up in the communities of St. James and Woodbrook and demonstrated interests in art and cycling by his teenage years. Michael eventually synergized his talents by using his works of art to partly fund his outstanding riding career which in turn gave greater recognition to his creativity on the canvas. Phillips Art Co. Ltd was founded to manage Michael’s paintings. Much of his work centres on depictions of old architecture and wildlife and nature scenery through the mediums of water colours and acrylics. With all this happening Michael still gave time to various national sporting bodies. He served as President of the Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation and as an Executive Member of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee. From 2015 to 2017 he held chairmanship of the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago. Though widely known today as a race promoter and business owner, Michael still enjoys competing from time to time and producing works of art.
